From Software has announced that a DLC expansion for hit action RPG Elden Ring is officially in development in the form of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.

The news was confirmed by the official Elden Ring Twitter account, which didn’t give too many details away – aside from a single piece of key art and the expansion’s title.

“Rise, Tarnished, and let us walk a new path together,” the tweet read – confirming the expansion is in development but not giving an indication of how far, nor how long it may be before fans can expect it to land.

“We hope you look forward to new adventures in The Lands Between.” was the only other clue the tweet offered, but it was enough to send fans into a joyous frenzy.

The original game released just over a year ago, and in that time has proven incredibly popular – with fans long awaiting additional content.

Some of their wishes were granted in December, when the game got a PVP focused Colosseum DLC late last year – but this will be the first large-scale narrative focused expansion.

Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree predicted release date

At the time of writing no release date – or even a release window – has been offered by From Software or publisher Bandai Namco for the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.

Presumably then, there’ll be more information on the DLC in the coming months – and we’ll try and keep you up to date when we hear more.

In the meantime – you can check out our Elden Ring review here. The game is available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC.
