Ed Boon has dropped a massive hint via his Twitter account that NetherRealm Studios is about to make a big an announcement of some kind.
“Unexpected surprise from NetherRealm Studios coming……?” says the original message.
In response to the flood of questions that immediately followed, Boon stated that the surprise wouldn’t be related to this year’s Mortal Kombat game. He also ruled out a connection to The Grid – the Smash TV-like arcade shooter that proved to be Midway’s last game.
The obvious suggestion is that Boon is about to reveal a new Mortal Kombat game. For the sake of being a little less obvious, I’m going to suggest that it’s some kind of tie-in with the Mortal Kombat film that was announced at the end of September.
Meanwhile, the new game MK1 arrives this year (2023). You can read about MK 1 release date and early access here
