The HDMI cable is listed as a “GameStop Universal Premium HDMI Cable” for the Xbox 360 platform. The website is charging $99 for the cable, with a stated street date of December 1, 2006.

It’s too early to know if the item listing is accurate, and the word “universal” appearing in the product name certainly confuses things. Given that the Xbox 360 has no HDMI port, it’s hard to see how a cable made for the Xbox 360 could be universal. Perhaps EB Games knows something about the upcoming HD-DVD add-on that we don’t – like the inclusion of a HDMI port.

X06 is scheduled to take place at the end of September, and everyone is expecting this to be the time that Microsoft spills the beans on the HD-DVD drive. We wait with bated breath.
