EA’s Australian Visceral team is set to close today, according to the International Game Developers Association and a source within the studio.
Studio management delivered the news to staff, with the insider stating the team’s triple-a project has been cancelled after three years in development. EA Games Label VP Patrick Soderlund did not believe in the financial success of the title, claims the source.
EA is yet to confirm the closure, but the IDGA Melbourne confirmed the news via Twitter: “Confirmation of EA closing Visceral has been received 🙁 our best wishes to the 21 devs now out of a job #EAVisceral.”
Visceral Melbourne had worked on Dead Space, Godfather and Dante’s Inferno.
