Tim Langdell, founder of Edge Games, has lost his case against EA over the use of the term “Edge”.
EA said Langdell was deliberately deceiving the United States Patent and Trademark Office and according to documents received by Industry Gamers, the court agreed.
The court strongly believed that Langdell is “suspect,” and had been “trolling” the video game industry for licensing opportunities. All this could see Langdell face “criminal penalties”.
EA is understandably pleased with the result and hopes the “case serves as a milestone in protecting independent developers from nuisance litigation”.
