EA has trademarked SimOcean, suggesting the publisher has plans for an all-new outing in the Sim franchise.
Maxis is currently working on franchise reboot SimCity, developed using the impressive GlassBox engine for release in 2013.
Prior to creating the hugely successful The Sims, Maxis created all manner of Sim spin-offs, including SimEarth, SimLife, SimCopter and SimAnt.
Is SimOcean a standalone experience, or could it be the first expansion for SimCity, taking the city building deep under the sea in an Atlantis style world? Your guess is as good as ours.
