Speaking to VideoGamer.com behind closed doors at E3, EA Sports creative director Todd Batty responded to the question on all SSX fans minds: will the game take advantage of EA’s Autolog feature?
“I can tell you that our online design is not what people will expect,” he says. But EA isn’t going to go into specifics just yet: “we’re not talking about multiplayer and online features until Gamescom.”
“I will tell you: I’m a huge fan of Criterion and the games they make. And so when we looked at what they did with Autolog – which to me is putting your friends at the heart of the game in some really cool and intuitive ways – we are going to be talking about some online and multiplayer stuff that’s really awesome and is definitely inspired and going into that direction.”
Batty uses the phrases ‘inspired’, which would suggest that SSX will use a feature similar to Autlog, but not actually Autolog itself.
I took to the slopes of Makulka for a hands on demo shortly after the interview. My preview will be hitting the site shortly.
Gamescóm 2011 will take place between August 17 and 21.
SSX is due for release in January 2012.
