EA has announced EA Sports Cricket 2005. The game is under development at EA Canada and HB Studios and will be released for PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC this summer. Cricket 2005 features the official license to the international and county teams and will give players the chance to compete in tournaments, such as the new Twenty20 tournament that was introduced to bring some added excitement to the sport.

Cricket 2005 will be the benchmark for cricket games to come” said Andrew Wilson, senior producer, EA Canada. The new game features improved visuals, allows you to create your own players and provides players with more control over batsmen and bowlers. Unfortunately for cricket fans, there is no word on online play in this year’s game. That would have given the game a distinct advantage over Codemasters’ effort, but sadly it doesn’t look like it’s happening.
