2006 FIFA World Cup will be released on pretty much all current platforms which includes the Xbox 360. The game will feature the twelve stadiums being used for the tournament, plus stadiums from each qualifying region, each accurately recreated. Take your favourite team through the qualifying stages and into the main event in Germany.

The FIFA World Cup will be the single most watched sporting event by a worldwide television audience, bringing together football fans from around the world,” said Joe Nickolls, lead producer of the game. “Our game, 2006 FIFA World Cup celebrates this passion by capturing all of the national rivalries in-game, enabling fans to play their heroes and be a part of 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany.

Almost 100 superstars from the world of football have had their moves and likenesses captured to bring them to life in the game, with 127 international teams available to choose from. A new Global Challenge mode will test even the most skilled players, recreating classic moments in FIFA World Cup history. The game will also have support for up to eight-players in multiplayer, and expect plenty of unlockable players and exclusive apparel. Online play has been confirmed, but no exact details are available at this time.

Xbox 360 owners who have already parted with £50 for the Xbox 360 exclusive FIFA 06 Road to FIFA World Cup, may feel a little short changed given that 2006 FIFA World Cup will be released only four months later. 2006 FIFA World Cup is scheduled for release in April on PlayStation 2, Xbox, Xbox 360, GameCube, PC, DS, PSP and GBA. A version will also be released for mobile phones.
