EA dominated the UK All-Formats Charts last year, spending almost three times as many weeks at No.1 than its nearest rival Activision.
The publisher’s success came primarily as a result of FIFA’s popularity, with FIFA 14 and FIFA 15 spending fifteen weeks at the top between them throughout 2014. Other EA chart-toppers included Titanfall, The Sims 4 and EA Sports UFC.
In total, EA secured 22 weeks at No.1 with Activision managing 8 weeks. Ubisoft came in third with 7 weeks.
FIFA 15 spent the longest time at the top with 8 weeks at No.1. FIFA 14 was second with 7 weeks and Watch Dogs third with 6 weeks. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Titanfall each spent 5 weeks at the top, although Advanced Warfare’s success looks set to continue into 2015.
And while they won’t align in sales, it’s perhaps surprising to see Activision’s mega-budget shooter Destiny spend the same amount of time at No.1 as Sniper Elite 3 and The LEGO Movie Videogame.
Neither Microsoft, Nintendo, Capcom, Konami, SEGA, Codemasters or Bandai Namco managed to secure a No.1 throughout the entirety of 2014, however, despite Microsoft having released three major Xbox One exclusives in the latter half of the year.
