EA has released details of the retailer-specific UK pre-order bonuses available for Battlefield 3.
Decide to pre-order your copy of Battlefield 3 at Play.com and you’ll receive the Dog Tag Pack, which gives you five exclusive dog tags to use in the game as part of its user-customisable player card feature.
Meanwhile, pre-order at Amazon and you’ll get the SPECACT Kit, which gives you eight alternative skins for each of the four classes across both factions.
Finally there’s GAME and Gamestation, which will hand over the Physical Warfare Pack in exchange for your pre-order. This gives you immediate access to otherwise time-limited weapons; the Type 88 light machine gun, SKS sniper rifle, and armour-piercing flechette ammo for the DAO-12 shotgun. You also get instant access to the DAO-12, which common folk will have to unlock with blood, sweat, and tears. Losers!
All pre-orders of the game will give you the Battlefield 3 Limited Edition, which comes with the Back to Karkand DLC for no extra charge – it will normally sell for £11.99. Back to Karkand is four maps – Strike at Karkand, Gulf of Oman, Wake Island and Sharqi Peninsula – recreated from Battlefield 2 in the Frostbite 2.0 engine. Yes, Wake Island.
Battlefield 3 will be released on October 28 for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
These all look a bit on the underwhelming side, if you ask me. The Physical Warfare Pack looks to be the most useless. If I had to choose I’d probably go for the SPECACT Kit.
