Publishing behemoth Electronic Arts has confirmed that it will support Sony’s eagerly anticipated PlayStation Portable with two titles for the Japanese launch and a further four for the US launch next year.

Having set up Team Fusion, a dedicated PSP team, at its Canadian studios, EA is well placed to continue its reign of chart busting dominance well into the Wi-Fi epoch. “The launch of the PlayStation 2 taught us that it is essential to deliver first rate games from day one” says team director and alliteration Warren Wall “We’ve assembled Team Fusion to do just that.”

“Our PSP games will be tailored to the new system in every way – graphics, gameplay and sound” he added. “We plan to kick off the PSP launch with a bang.” Fighting talk indeed.

Japanese gamers can look forward to the ostentatiously titled Need for Speed Underground Rivals and the more conservative Tiger Woods PGA (both replete with Wi-Fi head to head gaming) while their US counterparts will get NBA Street and NFL Street as well as two further unannounced titles on top.
