EA has officially announced Dante’s Inferno, the new third-person action game from the studio behind the excellent survival sci-fi horror Dead Space.

Dante’s Inferno, the video game adaptation of the medieval poem The Divine Comedy, is all about hell and purgatory, and tells of Dante’s pursuit of his beloved Beatrice through the nine circles of hell, limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, wrath, heresy, violence, fraud and treachery.

Jonathan Knight, executive producer had this to say: “The time is right for the world of interactive entertainment to adapt this literary masterpiece, and to re-introduce Dante to an audience that, until now, may have been unfamiliar with the remarkable details of this great work of art. It’s the perfect opportunity to fuse great gameplay with great story.”

No release date has been suggested, or platforms, but you can check out the game’s first God of War-esque trailer, which shows a beefy Dante sticking crosses in demons, here. We’ll have more as we get it.
