EA has announced EA Access, a Netflix-style subscription service that offers members unlimited access to selected games, early access to new titles and discounts on digital content for a monthly or annual fee.

Due to launch later this summer exclusively on Xbox One, EA Access will initially offer full access to digital versions of Battlefield 4, FIFA 14, Madden NFL 25 and Peggle 2 for £3.99/month or £19.99/year. Like Netflix, the titles will only be accessible for as long as you remain a subscriber.

Subscribers will also benefit from a 10 percent discount on full game downloads, DLC and in-game currency, and have access to trials of upcoming titles 5 days ahead of release. Some trials will let you jump into the full game, EA says, while others will limit players to one of the game’s modes.

The first games due to receive trials include Dragon Age: Inquisition, FIFA 15, Madden NFL 15, NHL 15 and NBA Live 15, with progress carried over to the full game should you decide to buy it.

There’s no word on whether EA has plans to roll out the service to other platforms, like PS4, or whether the service will remain exclusive to Xbox One.

And there’s an additional caveat, too: all Titanfall content is excluded from EA Access, meaning you won’t be able to pick up that game’s Season Pass or any other DLC at a discount.

EA Access marks the second time EA has experimented with platform-level subscription services, having previously launched EA Sports Season Ticket, a similar service that provided game trials and discounts on EA’s sports titles.

Expect more on EA Access to be revealed during next month’s Gamescom.
