EA have snapped up another developer. Hypnotix, a fairly small 40-man team, are responsible for games in the Outlaw series of sports titles that have been published by Global Star – One of Take Two’s many publishing subsidiaries. The acquisition will be somewhat of a blow to Take Two who were emerging as the major challenger to EA’s sports crown.
EA have put the team straight to work on the upcoming Arena Football League game, requiring Hypnotix’s staff to relocate to Orlando. It is believed that 35 of the 40 employees have accepted the relocation deal. EA bought the Arena Football League license at the start of the year, shortly after they secured the controversial exclusive NFL license.
While it is uncertain if the game will even make it over to Europe, Americans should lap it up when it is released in February 2006.
