The Electronic Entertainment Expo will be returning to Los Angeles’ Staples Center next year, but beyond that, the event’s future in the city is uncertain. The Entertainment Software Association are said to be in talks about a long term deal to keep E3 in LA, with the current contract set to expire after the 2012 expo.

However, according to the Los Angeles Times the ESA has concerns about AEG Inc.’s proposed construction of a new football stadium where the LACC West Hall currently resides. Although plans are in place for a replacement hall, the trade group has concerns about attendees having to deal with the hassle of an under-construction LACC during E3.

Speaking to Gamespot, ESA’s senior VP of communications, Rich Taylor, said: “We’re engaged in positive and constructive dialogue with the LACC, AEG, and other stakeholders to ensure that E3 remains the leading global video game event and maintain the outstanding experience that our attendees expect and deserve.”

Although LA has hosted the majority of E3s in the past, it has previously been moved to other locations including Santa Monica and Atlanta.
