Dynasty Warriors 9 takes the franchise into an open-world setting for the first time, which means only one thing: Plenty of distractions. Indeed, Koei Tecmo has confirmed that its limb-slicing sequel will feature a boatload of activities to take part in when you’re not busy cutting a bloody swath across ancient China.

First up, Dynasty Warriors 9 will offer Watch Towers for you to scramble up, allowing you to gain more info on the surrounding area. After all, what’s an open-world game without a tower to climb? The info you garner from these towers will provide key Intel for missions and other activities you pursue.

Elsewhere, Wild Clusters provide a stomping ground for rare materials used to craft weapons and items, and can be found everywhere from forests to mountain ranges. Meanwhile, Box Traps can be left lying around that will eventually cough up valuable resources and come in three different sizes.

Dynasty Warriors 9 also lets you indulge in a spot of fishing at key points across the map, as well as hunting the likes of tigers, wolves, and bears (presumably putting them on China’s endangered speices list in the process) for points in exchange for coins and gems.

Dynasty Warriors 9 is pencilled in for a February 13 release in the US and UK on PS4, PC, and Xbox One.
