Update, August 23: God’s Trigger is in fact being developed by One More Level, and the game will be published by Techland.

Original story, August 22: Techland Publishing has announced a new co-op action game called God’s Trigger at Gamescom 2017, and it looks like what would happen if you combined the top-down approach of Hotline Miami, the graphical stylings of Lollipop Chainsaw, a wee bit of Borderlands and lashings of Kill Bill.

God’s Trigger sees players take on the role of an Angel and a Demon who have to team up to defeat the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, before they achieve their aim of setting off a divine apocalypse across the world as bringers of the Last Judgement. Yes, I’ve read the bible at least once in my life.

This is game comes from Techland Publishing, the folks who published the well-received Torment: Tides of Numenera. This is the first game Techland has developed since the pretty enjoyable Dying Light and the decent, but technically broken, Dead Island.

God’s Trigger is due to release in early 2018 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
