A stealth update to the PS3 means you can now use a DualShock 4 controller wirelessly on the console.

Reddit user shafiggy16 discovered that the controller can now be paired with the console over Bluetooth, doing away with the need for a USB cable which was previously required.

To pair up the DS4 follow these steps once the controller is connected using a USB cable.

1. Navigate to Accessory Settings and Manage Bluetooth Devices

2. Scan for a new Bluetooth Device

3. Unplug the controller from USB, press Share and PS Buttons.

4. Plug USB back in once controller is discovered and select Wireless Controller

The controller should now be working so you can remove the cable. Sadly features including rumble and Sixaxis Motion aren’t yet working.
