Ubisoft has announced their first Prince of Persia game for the Nintendo DS. It isn’t surprising that they are brining the series to the DS, but the type of game isn’t what we were expecting. Battles of Prince of Persia is a turn-based tactical card battler. In Development at Ubisoft’s Montreal studio, the game puts you in control of large armies who are battling in the Prince of Persia universe.

Set between the Sands of Time and Warrior Within, the story revolves around the appreance of the Dahaka and a conflict between Persia and India. Advancing in the single player mode will earn you more money, allowing you to purchase more powerful decks, and throughout the game you’ll see the story develop from many different points of view.

Multiplayer battling is supported for single or multi-game play, or you can link up with a friend and share cards to get the cards you’ve been after.

The game is due late this year and is the only Prince of Persia game in development for the DS. While this may be a little disappointing for fans hoping for a full 3D action title, at least the DS is getting a game unique to the platform.
