The Nintendo DS Lite launched across Europe on June 23, and has been on gamers’ shopping lists ever since. Nintendo has announced that the new, sleeker DS sold more than 200,000 units in the ten days following its launch. Total sales of Nintendo DS hardware is now over 5 million across Europe.

Nintendo DS has introduced thousands of new people to gaming and will continue to expand the gaming population due to its ability to appeal to both gamers and non-gamers. During Nintendo DS Lite launch weekend, retailers across Europe said that they had never seen such a vast array of different people buying the product, everyone from business men to young women to grandfathers!” said Laurent Fischer, European Marketing Director, Nintendo of Europe.

Nintendo’s Touch! Generations range of titles is also proving a massive success in Europe. The Nintendogs series has amassed sales of 3 million, Animal Crossing: Wild World over 600,000, and Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training: How Old is Your Brain? is already testing more than 250,000 people across Europe.
