Driver: Parallel Lines features two distinct eras of gameplay, so Atari has chosen artists who most reflect these times. In collaboration with the audio production company Nimrod, Atari has selected a host of artists to supply new material for the game. These artists include Public Enemy, Grandmaster Flash, Suicide, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Arthur Baker, Mylo, Paul Oakenfold, Lifesavas featuring Vernon Reid and the Audio Bullys.
Together with the exclusive new tracks, the game will feature a host of licensed music to accompany the 1978 and 2006 gameplay eras. David Bowie, Blondie, Iggy Pop, WAR, The Temptations, Funkadelic, Marvin Gaye, Parliament, and Average White Band are some of the artists featured in the late 70s era, with the current-day New York era featuring the likes of The Roots, LCD Soundsystem, TV on the Radio, Kaiser Chiefs, Secret Machines, and The Dead 60’s.
“The melting pot of the New York music scene stretches across so many musical boundaries that it seems to effortlessly create an infectious mix, from obscure 70’s gems to classic tracks, and important new bands to the modern day musical heroes,” said Marc Canham, game soundtrack composer and music producer for Driver: Parallel Lines.
Driver: Parallel Lines is to be released on PlayStation 2 and Xbox later this month in both standard and collector’s editions, with the latter including a soundtrack CD featuring songs from the game.
