SEGA has announced a February 25 retail release for Dreamcast Collection. The package, set for Xbox 360 and PC, will include four games: Sonic Adventure, Crazy Taxi, SEGA Bass Fishing and Space Channel 5: Part 2.
“The Dreamcast console is still remembered as a pioneering console for online gaming,” commented Gary Knight, VP of Marketing at SEGA of America and SEGA Europe. “We are delighted to be able to offer to our large community of dedicated fans a collection such as Dreamcast Collection for them to enjoy old favourites on this generation of consoles.”
Each game is said to benefit from enhanced graphics, achievements and online leaderboards, although the improvements made to the Xbox 360 XLBA versions weren’t great.
While a collection of Dreamcast classics would be excellent, this definitely isn’t it. SEGA’s taken the first four of its downloadable Dreamcast titles and bunged them on a disc.
Just off the top of our heads we can think of numerous better collections. Why not release a Dreamcast racing collection, including SEGA Rally 2, Daytona USA 2001, Crazy Taxi and Crazy Taxi 2? What about a double pack of Shenmue and Shenmue 2? And if SEGA wants more variety, it could put together Jet Set Radio, ChuChu Rocket, Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future and Seaman.
