THQ, by way of MTV Multiplayer, has announced the follow-up to its hugely original Nintendo DS title, Drawn to Life. It’s no direct sequel though, taking the Drawn to Life game mechanics and placing them in the world of SpongeBob SquarePants.

Drawn To Life: SpongeBob SquarePants from Altron – this game isn’t from 5th Cell who created the first Drawn to Life game – is scheduled for release on Nintendo DS later this year and promises to allow gamers to interact with SpongeBob and his universe like never before.

The game sees SpongeBob and Patrick stumble upon a magical pencil that brings drawings to life. Unfortunately, the evil SpongeBob drawing, DoodleBob, gets a magic pencil of his own and uses it to bring havoc to Bikini Bottom.

Players will have to draw their own unique hero that has the power to defeat DoodleBob’s drawings and Rescue SpongeBob. Players will also have to customise and furnish their home in Bikini Bottom.

The game will feature over 20 levels, a two-player vs. mode and a sketching mode which teaches players how to draw the main characters from the SpongBob series.
