Capcom has announced that the release date for Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be October 3. The release of the port coincides with the 5th anniversary of the action role-playing series. Since its original release in 2012, Dragon’s Dogma has sold 3.2 million copies worldwide. Now it’s coming to the PS4 and Xbox One with a nice visual sprucing to boot.

The current-gen console version contains the original Dragon’s Dogma as well as the extra content from Dark Arisen. This includes the Bitterblack Isle region, which is filled with new enemies and additional quests along with high level weapon and armour sets. This version is enhanced with ‘high resolution visuals’ according to Capcom, so expect 1080p 30FPS and possibly even support for 4K visuals on the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X consoles.

Players can choose between nine different class-types and set out, with up to three AI companions, on an adventure. The AI companions are known as Pawns and they’ll fight independently, levelling up alongside the player’s character while providing hints and strategies. These Pawns can be shared and borrowed online in exchange for treasure and tips. Dragon’s Dogma received praise for the game’s day and night cycle, which affects the game’s difficulty, sending players running for cover as darkness falls.

Dragons Dogma: Dark Arisen is out on October 3 for PS4 and Xbox One.
