Bandai Namco has announced some substantial new free content coming for all owners of fighting RPG Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 later in the year.

Entitled Hero Colosseum, the addition introduces an entirely new game mode where players use capsule toy versions of their favourite Dragon Ball characters in tactical boardgame-like scenarios. It’ll even come with its own story mode separate from the main game. Here’s a trailer for the new mode:

There’ll also be two extra DLC packs just for this mode, introducing new characters and gameplay features. The first is slated to contain Tapion, Android 13 and ‘2 new characters’ while the second will have ‘a new original character, a new scenario’ and, most mysteriously, ‘a new way to interact with Dragon Ball characters.’ Also promised is the possibility for players to discover ‘an all new form of Goku.’

The Hero Colosseum update and Extra Pack 1 will drop in Autumn, with the second pack hasn’t been given a date yet. In a further Dragon Ball related tease, Bandai Namco also promise a link-up between this game and the upcoming Dragon Ball FighterZ due to launch in February 2018, with special items promised for those players that own both games.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is out now for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and Nintendo Switch.
