Former BioWare writer Mike Laidlaw has shared a few tantalising details on what he had planned for Dragon Age 4 prior to his departure from the Edmonton-based developer last year.

Speaking at the Game Developers Conference 2018 this week (via US Gamer), Laidlaw indicated that we may have gotten more details about Elven apostate Solas, who appeared as one of the central characters in Dragon Age: Inquisition and the accompanying Trespasser DLC. Those who played it will ‘know what logically will follow,’ says Laidlaw.

‘Post-[Dragon Age: Inquisition Trespasser DLC], there’s obviously a route to go with the Solas revelations,’ he added. Laidlaw went on to describe his reasons for leaving BioWare, saying that he ‘wanted to try a new challenge.’

‘I thought if I’m ever gonna go, this is the least disruptive time for me to leave. So I would be stunned if whatever plan I had remained completely unchanged,’ said Laidlaw, adding that he’s pretty confident about how BioWare will handle the fantasy role-playing game franchise going forward.

‘The creative leads need to be present and guiding, and the team needs to do whatever they’re passionate about. I don’t have any fear that they’ll change the world because there’s a pretty deep respect for what it’s done.’

BioWare has not yet shared any details on the new Dragon Age game yet, and all we know is that it’s currently in production. However, the studio is currently focused on delivering Anthem, its Destiny-style open-world adventure game for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One that recently got pushed into 2019.Â
