Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training for Nintendo Switch, the next game in the Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training series, is coming to Switch on January 3, 2020.
Last week, Train Your Brain: Nintendo Switch Training for Adults was announced for Japanese players and set to release on December 27. Of course, this was fabulous news, but I couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed that the new game seemed to be exclusive for Japan. The severed head of an esteemed neuroscientist telling me that my mental capacities were degraded beyond my years was an important part of my childhood.
But, lo! Dr Kawashima's Brain Training is coming to Nintendo Switch for European players just one week after the Japanese game releases. Players will be able to use the Joy-Con’s IR camera feature to scan their hand and play a game of rock-paper-scissors. The camera will also scan answers to mental maths questions as players hold up the correct number of fingers. There will be competitive counting games of boxes and birds, and a running game with a stick figure that jumps over obstacles with each correct answer.
Exercises will be helped along with the official stylus, and if players have a Nintendo Switch Online membership, they will be able to show off their records and achievements for the world to see. Nintendo is considering World Brain Training Championships too, so perhaps we’ll get competitive seasons with a battle pass including cod liver oil tablets and green tea packets. Probably not, though.
