Square Enix has announced that Dragon Quest: The Hand of the Heavenly Bride will be released across PAL territories in spring 2009, exclusively on the Nintendo DS.

A remake of the classic Dragon Quest V, the game is the second chapter of the Zenithia Trilogy which began with the release of Dragon Quest: The Chapters of the Chosen and ends with Dragon Quest: Realms of Reverie.

John Yamamoto, president and chief executive officer of Square Enix commented: “With this new entry in the Dragon Quest series, we hope game players of all ages will enjoy the Dragon Quest experience, following our hero through a lifetime of limitless adventures and great surprises.”

Making its first appearance in Europe, the game has been enhanced for Nintendo DS and will feature a complete audio/visual overhaul with 3D graphics and an orchestral score. Players will also be able to access Exotica Net which makes it possible to swap items with fellow DQ players.

Expect Square Enix to pinpoint the game’s release as its spring launch approaches.
