DOOM’s first multiplayer map pack will launch next Friday, August 5, Bethesda has announced.

Priced £11.99, the ‘Unto the Evil’ DLC includes three new multiplayer maps – Offering Cataclysm and Ritual – plus a new demon, weapon, equipment and more. You can check out the full list of new content below.

  • Three new multiplayer maps: Offering, Cataclysm, and Ritual
  • A new player-controlled demon: Harvester
  • A new weapon: UAC EMG Pistol
  • New equipment: Kinetic Mine
  • New ways to customize your DOOM Marine, including additional armour sets, patterns, colours, and taunts
  • New hack modules

Something particularly cool about the DLC, however, is that everyone in a party can play the multiplayer maps, provided that at least one of them owns it. Here’s how it works:

“With the launch of Unto the Evil and the introduction of several new maps, we also want to keep our community playing together, so we’re introducing a feature of DLC we call PartyPlay,” says Bethesda. “If you haven’t purchased the premium DLC and a map comes up that you don’t have, but you’re currently in a party with another player who has purchased the DLC, you’ll be allowed to continue playing. Conversely, if you have purchased a premium DLC pack, anyone in your party can play any of the maps from the DLC as long as they’re with you.”

On top of that, id also plans to release a major new update for the game tomorrow, July 29, introducing two new multiplayer modes – a capture-the-flag mode called Exodus and a territory-capture mode called Sector – along with some “tremendous tools and fun new capabilities for SnapMap fans”, including the addition of the campaign’s weapon wheel.

And there’s more: a Double XP weekend is also scheduled for all players this weekend, starting from 5pm BST tomorrow and running right the way through to 5pm BST next Monday, August 1.
