id Software has rolled out a new update for the Switch version of DOOM, adding gyro/motion control functionality for the celebrated shooter. The feature has been long requested among fans, although the developer has been strangely quiet on its implementation.
Still, the proof is in the pudding, with gamers on social media revealing they’ve booted up the title and downloaded the update, which enables full motion controls. So far the reaction has been pretty positive, according to early feedback on resetera.
Right now there’s no official patch notes doing the rounds, though we’ll point them out to you as soon as they become available.
DOOM was released on PS4, PC, and Xbox One in May 2016 before getting the Switch treatment last November. It’s rather good, so go pick it up if you want to shoot aliens in the face with exorbitantly-large guns and be rewarded with buckets of red stuff.
