Earlier today a number of Xbox fan sites began reporting that Doom was on its way to the Xbox Live Arcade, complete with four-player split screen and online multiplayer modes. It was also reported that the game will be appearing on the arcade later this evening after it is officially announced by Microsoft at X06.

The release date is still in question, but Doom certainly does look to be on its way. The game has been listed on the PEGI website as being re-rated for released on the Xbox 360.

Together with Doom, the names of a number of other Xbox Live Arcade games have supposedly been leaked, and include:

Lumines Live! – 1200 Microsoft Points

Contra – 400 Microsoft Points

Doom – 800 Microsoft Points

Street Race NYC – 800 Microsoft Points

Gyruss – 400 Microsoft Points

Also due for release on the Arcade are:

Small Arms

Heavy Weapon

Totem Ball

Sensible World of Soccer

Ultimate Mortal Kombat

Mutant Storm Empire

Defender

Assault Heroes

Hopefully Microsoft will be able to confirm the news later on this evening during its conference at X06.
