Halo 5 will not be released in 2014, Master Chief voice actor Steve Downes has revealed in an interview with GameZone.
Many had expected the sequel to headline the Xbox One’s Holiday 2014 line-up, but it would appear this won’t be the case.
“I think you may be ahead of yourself on Halo 5,” Downes said. “I wouldn’t expect anything until 2015.”
However, the much rumoured Halo 2 Anniversary Edition does appear to be on the cards for later this year.
“What you can look forward to this year is an anniversary edition of Halo 2,” Downes added.
Microsoft has been firm with its stance that the “next Halo journey will begin in 2014,” but this could mean a number of things. Perhaps access to a Halo 5 beta will be included with the anniversary edition of Halo 2.
There’s also the possibility that a live-action series will launch later this year on Xbox Live, which would lead into the launch of Halo 5.
