Variety reports that EA’s sci-fi horror franchise Dead Space is to be turned into a motion picture, with Eagle Eye director D.J. Caruso already attached to direct.

EA will produce with Temple Hill partners Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey (Gears of War movie).

Those involved have been listening to takes from prospective screenwriters and once chosen the project will be auctioned to interested studios – this is expected to take place in early September.

Interestingly, Variety reports that EA is “working on the second and third instalments” in the Dead Space video game series, although beyond Wii shooter, Dead Space: Extraction, EA hasn’t confirmed the development of any further games.
