Players who purchase a digital copy of The Last of Us from PlayStation Store will be able to play the game while it’s downloading, Sony has revealed.

Using similar technology to that found in PS4 – which lets users play digital titles after the console has downloaded a fraction of the total data – The Last of Us will become playable as soon as the download hits 50 per cent.

A digital version of the game will be available day-and-date with the physical release on June 14.
