Diablo III will not include PvP at launch as it is not living up to standards, Blizzard has announced.

Writing on the official battle.net site, the firm stated it plans to release the PvP Arena system in a patch following the release of the long-awaited game.

“We ultimately felt that delaying the whole game purely for PvP would just be punishing to everyone who’s waiting to enjoy the campaign and core solo/co-op content, all of which is just about complete.”

Blizzard adds that users will be playing the game “soon”.

Promised alongside PvP are multiple Arena maps in themed locations, PvP based achievements, and a matchmaking system as well as a personal progression system that rewards users for defeating other teams.

Diablo III is thought to release April 17, based on a retail date listed on Amazon Italy.
