Blizzard has issued an update to the English and German versions of the Diablo III digital installation files, meaning those who’ve already pre-downloaded the game will need to update their version before tonight if they’re looking to be able to play the very second the servers come online.

If you downloaded the files after 9:00 AM GMT on Saturday May 12 then you’re fine, says Blizzard.

Those who’ve already downloaded the full client can point the new downloader to their old directory and it will sort everything out for you, saving you another hefty 7.6gb download. Phew.

Blizzard switches the European Diablo III servers on tonight, slightly ahead of the game’s launch at midnight. Something is bound to go wrong.

The publisher has already advised people to make their mandatory BattleTag ahead of time.

Let’s all cross our fingers and hope that we’re all playing this time tomorrow. I’m going to make a Demon Hunter. You?
