Despite the frequent criticisms of Blizzard, Diablo 4 still remains massively popular. Season 5 launched last week, and it introduced new content to the game with the arrival of Infernal Hordes. However, following the start of this new season, Blizzard has temporarily shut down trading thanks to a new Diablo 4 exploit, much to the surprise of no one.

Season 5 has introduced another battle pass full of rewards, and you will want to unlock everything available before the arrival of Season 6 in October. For Season 5, we have a guide for how to unlock the Infernal Horde compass and rewards, and we also have a guide explaining everything you need to know about the Hellbreach.

Blizzard has recently re-enabled The Umbracrux unique ability after it was removed, but now they have temporarily disabled trading.

Diablo 4 trading is temporarily disabled

On the Blizzard forums, Diablo 4 community manager, PezRadar, has confirmed that trading has temporarily shut down. Below is the message posted by the community manager:

“We will be disabling trading in Diablo IV while we investigate a possible duplication issue. We apologize for the disruption and will provide updates on when we will have trading available again once we further investigate and identify any issues we need to resolve.”

There’s no ETA for when trading will be back up, but hopefully it doesn’t take too long for the issues to be resolved. Per Gamesradar, the exploit was highlighted in a “livestream held by Chinese players on video site bilibili… Screenshots of inventories and marketplaces flooded with countless stacks of normally scarce items have cropped up online, supporting the theory that the dupe could be applied to any stackable item”.

On Reddit, fans have reacted to trading being disabled with little surprise. One reply said, “There seems to be a dupe bug every season. Obv, it’s a complex system so not knocking the devs at all, but I just find this quite funny. It’s almost expected at this point”.

Another comment said, “This happens every single season,” to which another comment replied, “It’s my favorite seasonal event”. In addition to a lack of surprise, comments also highlight a lack of sympathy for players who deal in trades.

One comment said, “god I really don’t f***ing care about people who would rather buy/sell/trade than play the damned game”. While there are comments with a lack of sympathy for traders, there are other comments defending the practice such as, “Being able to make money to buy better gear and boss mats makes the game progression exponentially more enjoyable than relying on luck alone”.

Again, there’s no ETA for when the issue will be resolved, but hopefully it’ll be back online soon for those who enjoy participating in trades.
