Diablo 3 expansion Reaper of Souls sold more than 2.7 million copies worldwide across retail and digital after just one week on sale, Blizzard Entertainment has announced.

“With Reaper of Souls, we wanted to emphasize all the things that Diablo gamers have always loved about the series, from the dark gothic setting to the piles and piles of epic loot,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We’re excited to see that players are enjoying the changes we’ve made to the game, and we look forward to achieving our Paragon levels alongside everyone else in the weeks and months ahead.”

To date the game’s final boss has been defeated more than 1.5 million times, Blizzard added.

Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition, a next-gen re-release containing both the original Diablo 3 and Reaper of Souls, is on the way for PS4 later this year – and possibly Xbox One, too.
