Diablo 3 expansion Reaper of Souls will release worldwide on PC and Mac on March 25, 2014, Blizzard has announced.

The digital version is also available to pre-purchase today via Battle.net, with the Standard Edition available for £32.99 and the Digital Deluxe Edition available for £49.99. Before splashing the cash, though, be aware that a copy of Diablo 3 is required to play the game.

Reaper of Souls introduces a new character class – The Crusader – along with an all new act set after the conclusion of Diablo 3. A new Adventure mode will also let players travel to any waypoint in any act, while a redesigned loot system introduces new ‘smart drops’, designed to offer players even better loot at an improved pace.

“With Reaper of Souls, we’re taking Diablo III back to its darker, deadlier roots and also giving players a new way to experience the game,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment.

“In addition to adding a new character class, a new act, and tons of fully randomized new content, we’re opening up the world so players are free to explore the game as they see fit, whether it’s following along with the story line or charting their own course across Sanctuary.”

Those still waiting for an update on the PlayStation 4 version of Diablo 3, though, will be left disappointed. While the PS4 release will include both Diablo 3 and Reaper of Souls, it’s still to be dated, with Blizzard asking fans to keep an eye on diablo3.com for further updates about its launch.
