This past weekend’s Diablo 3 open beta attracted 300,000 concurrent users at one point – although the total number of players has yet to be calculated.
“I think we peaked at around 300k concurrent,” said Blizzard community manager Bashiok, posting on Twitter. “Total users? I don’t know… a lot.”
While it’s hardly surprising, the beta proved so popular that many users reportedly struggled to create and join games, or had problems using the chat function.
Diablo 3 is now just four weeks from launch. Blizzard has yet to confirm that the game will be released on console, though the developer has repeatedly said that it’s exploring the possibility.
