Capcom has registered a trademark for the long-rumoured Devil May Cry 5, indicating the demon-slaying sequel may be officially unveiled at E3 next week.

The domain devilmaycry5.com was registered on May 17 under the Onamae domain registrar, which may not mean anything at first glance, but is actually the registrar that Capcom used for the likes of Monster Hunter World and Resident Evil 7.

Oddly enough, domains for devilmaycry6.com, devilmaycry8.com, and devilmaycry9.com were also registered under Onamae, though devilmaycry7.com was previously registered by a separate entity.

Devil May Cry 5 has been rumoured for ages now, so presumably this is all leading up an E3 2018 reveal.

Still, I'm firmly in the camp that believes DmC deserves a full sequel. The 2013 actioner was bloody superb, and brought a new confidence and contemporary edge to the franchise that the likes of Devil May Cry 4 really lacked.

Plus, the new Dante just didn't give a crap. Remember when Daniel Craig took over as James Bond and pretty much subverted all expectations? Like that bit when he was asked if he wanted his Vodka Martini shaken or stirred. He just replied 'Do I look like I give a damn?'

Yeah, that's totally DmC's Dante. Come on Capcom, make it happen.
