Last weekend, a mysterious message appeared on the in-game ticker on the Deus Ex title screen.
“Human Revolutions — Special Message Incoming / Be Ready / 2200 GMT 29 Aug”, it read.
On Monday, this was followed up by a mysterious string of characters that appeared to have no meaning whatsoever: okM8-+Ds4Dui?lMh$Mzvm14SBqe7;G.l6=u74b?mkh-45Ki60d+98XBpCku7

Thankfully, the internet’s brightest and best were up for a challenge, and managed to gleam something coherent from the text. The code points to 13311tower.com, which can be read as BELL tower – with a little imagination – referring to a private security firm in the game. If you take the time to check out the source code for this page, you’ll be rewarded with some equally mysterious co-ordinates.
Next step, then. Whack those co-ordinates into Google Maps, and we end up in Ayers Rock, Australia – otherwise known as ‘Uluru’. Remember that.
Back on 13311tower.com, there’s Morse code that translates to ’11m13clinic’ (LIMBclinic). Using hints also hidden about the image, you can click on the illuminati image to bring up a login box. From here, pop in ’11m13clinic’ as the username, and ‘Uluru’ as the password and you’ll be rewarded with an image of Adam Jensen with the text “What is the missing link?”.
To save you the hassle of doing all that, we’ve embedded the image below.
And what does THIS mean, then? DLC, most likely.
The image is taken from a scene about three-quarters of the way through the game, which those that have played will remember well.
According to sources of VG247, “the DLC follows events of two days spent onboard a ship. The player is isolated from the support networks found in the core Human Revolution game, and must face events independent of comm advice.”
“While travelling, the player discovers the vessel is a floating prison of some kind, and that experiments are being carried out on the inmates. Environments include plenty of cells and a sentry tower.”
Eidos Montreal is expected to follow this up with a formal announcement shortly.
