Quantic Dream has announced that PS4-exclusive thriller Detroit: Become Human will be released on May 25.

Born from the 2012 Kara tech demo on PS3, Detroit takes place in a futuristic version of the titular metropolis where humans have employed androids to carry out day-to-day menial tasks. The story focuses on three androids — Connor, Kara, and Markus — as they subvert their programming and begin to experience human-like emotions.

Following the footsteps of previous Quantic Dream titles, Detroit sees you controlling multiple characters and making decisions that have far-reaching consequences on the game’s story. Your actions could see you missing key scenes entirely or even leading to the demise of any of the main cast — anything goes, so you have to think about your decision carefully.

From a technical point of view, Quantic says that it’s really pushed the limits of what the PS4 is capable of, delivering ‘hundreds of highly realistic characters, full performance capture, scenes featuring crowds, all with a level of quality that we had never reached before.’

Quantic Dream’s previous games include Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls, both of which have been fully remastered for the PS4.
