During a panel at wrestling convention Starrcast III, yesterday, pro wrestler Kenny Omega revealed that there might be news of an All Elite Wrestling video game before the end of this year.

Earlier this year, Omega said that he wanted to ‘bring back the AKI engine’ that ran WWF No Mercy for the Nintendo 64. Then, AEW duo The Young Bucks – also known as Nick and Matt Jackson – seemed to confirm an AEW game while interviewed by Chris van Vliet in July. The Young Bucks didn’t reveal much more than a straightforward thumbs up, but now, Omega has thrown light on the potential project.

As clipped by Reddit user FuzzyWuzzyMooMoo, Omega stated that he is working hard in order to get the project off the ground. ‘I’ve been globetrotting a little bit and I've been trying to assemble some people in the know that might be able to piece together the vision for what this thing needs to be,’ he said. ‘Trust me, having a video game for AEW is top of my priority list, and I can't share anything right now, but I wouldn't be surprised if there might be something to announce by the end of the year, so be ready for that, guys.’

It’s not a formal announcement – a publisher or developer are yet to be attached to an All Elite Wrestling video game – but this is still an exciting update. A likely candidate could be Japanese WWE developer Yuke’s, as it had been confirmed to be working on a new wrestling IP and split from 2K Games earlier this month

Another fan at the panel asked Omega if he’d play Tekken with them, and the wrestler cheekily answered he might appear in an undisclosed fighting game as a character. ‘I’m not touching the game until they actually put me in it,’ Omega joked. ‘Now, I’ve had this discussion with many people – had it with Capcom, Konami. I'm not talking about a wrestling game, but you might actually see Kenny Omega in a fighting game real soon. Things are coming together.’

To me, the title Omega will appear in is obvious: not a wrestling but a fighting game, probably not Tekken, he’s been chatting to lots of publishers, and we might see his character soon. My money is on Kenny Omega in Shovel Knight Showdown.
