The game known as Riot Act in Japan and Crackdown here in the UK looks to be a kind of futuristic GTA type game, which sees you take on the role of a super powered special agent. As a special agent you must defeat three criminal powers: The Cai-Shen Corp is an Asian gang specializing in hit-men and violent revenge; The Volk are a Russian gang who specialize in firearms and finally there’s La Muerta, a Spanish gang who like their tricked out cars. You must kill the boss of each gang to restore peace and tranquillity to the city.
The game promises to have huge realistic game environments, with a fully populated living city full of good and bad people and a host of vehicles. At the beginning of the game you choose your character’s gender and physical appearance, as well as deciding what attributes you want your agent to have, such as strength, gun handling and driving skill. These skills will develop as you play through the game. You will eventually become powerful enough to pick up and chuck cars at enemies.
The game will also feature online play with two modes having already been announced: Co-op and multiplay. Crackdown is due out in 2006 for Xbox 360 and we are sure to be hearing a lot more about it in the coming months, maybe even as soon as next week, with Microsoft’s X05 event taking place on October 4th and 5th.
