NetEase’s rumoured Destiny Mobile game will allegedly be revealed in the coming months. After years of rumoured development, the mobile spin-off/conversion of Bungie’s MMOFPS game is said to be revealed very soon.
Destiny Mobile could come very soon
According to a report by games leaker Kurakasis, shared by trusted group Destiny Bulletin, NetEase’s long-rumoured mobile spin-off will be revealed shortly. Dubbed Destiny Rising, the game is said to be a new take on Bungie’s franchise for mobile gamers.
Over the past few years, the mobile spin-off of the FPSMMO had been assumed to be cancelled. However, the leaker claims that NetEase is still working on the mobile title for Android and iOS phones and tablets.
“It has not been canceled,” the leaker claimed. “I can assure you that it is still in development.”
A brave new take?
With Destiny 2 player numbers falling following the release of The Final Shape, the introduction of Destiny Mobile could be a great opportunity. While the mobile game likely won’t garner the same audience of dedicated console and PC players, it will be a fun option for gamers outside of that established audience.
However, with a Destiny 3 announcement nowhere to be seen, and the future of Destiny 2 currently unclear, the announcement of a mobile spin-off may be seen negatively by fans. After all, we all remember how the reveal of Diablo Immortal went before the official announcement of Diablo 4.
It’s also worth noting that Destiny Rising has not been officially announced by either party, although NetEase employees have previously admitted to developing the game. Furthermore, even If an announcement comes soon, a release date for the title could still be quite a while away.
For the time being, Destiny 2 is available as a free-to-play game on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series.
