Destiny has become the fastest-selling new IP ever in the UK, according to data released by Chart Track.
Launch week sales surpass that of previous record holder Watch Dogs, which managed to hold on to the record for just three months following its launch back in May.
Exact sales figures for Destiny have yet to be announced, but it was revealed last week that over $500m worth of stock had been shipped into retailers for launch day.
In the UK, the majority of sales were taken by PS4 although overall sales were split evenly between PlayStation and Xbox families, with 46 per cent of units sold on PS4, 36 per cent on Xbox One, 14 per cent on Xbox 360 and 4 per cent on PS3.
The figures do not include digitally purchased copies.
