More PlayStation 4 consoles were sold last week than any other week since Christmas following the launch of Destiny, Sony has announced.
The game also broke records to become the fastest-selling PS4 game ever in North America and the most played PS4 game during its first week on sale. Activision announced yesterday that over 100 million hours of playtime had already been logged on the game in total.
“From everyone at PlayStation, we want to say thank you to the fans – none of this would be possible without you!” commented Adam Boyes, VP of developer and publisher relations at SCEA. “Partnering with Bungie and Activision on Destiny has been a dream come true.”
While sales figures have yet to be confirmed, Destiny managed to sell through over $325m worth of its $500m launch day stock, with sales split 50/50 between Xbox and PlayStation platforms in the UK.
The first expansion pack, The Dark Below, is due to release this December.
