A free trial of Destiny is now available to download on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PS3.

The demo offers players a taste of what to expect from Bungie’s latest sci-fi epic, with users able to transfer their progress over to the full game should they decide to upgrade.

Much like the full game, progress can only be transferred from a last-gen console to a current-gen console within the same console family, ie. PS3 > PS4 and Xbox 360 > Xbox One.

The trial is approximately the same size as the full version of Destiny, requiring 20GB of storage space on PS4 and Xbox One, and 6GB on Xbox 360 and PS3.

It isn’t yet clear how much of the game players will get to explore in the demo or whether there’s a level cap.

Destiny’s first expansion pack, The Dark Below, releases on all formats on December 9.
